If you buy a brand new printer…
It will probably have a scanner.
If you use that scanner…
It will probably have a “Scan to Email” option.
If you use the “Scan to Email” option…
It will ask you for SMTP credentials.
If you need to setup credentials…
You will want to use AWS SES.
If you setup AWS SES…
You will need to verify your domain.
If you want to verify your domain…
AWS will give you DNS entries to add.
If you want to add these DNS entries…
You will use AWS Route 53.
If you use AWS Route 53…
AWS will verify your domain.
If your domain is verified…
AWS will want you to create SMTP credentials.
If you create SMTP credentials…
You will have a user name and password.
If you have a user name and password…
You will enter them in your printer’s SMTP configuration.
If you enter them in your printer’s SMTP configuration…
You will want to test them.
If you test them and it succeeds…
You will want to scan to your email.
If you scan to your email…
You will receive an email with an attachment.
When you receive the email with the attachment…
You will be full of joy that you bought your brand new printer!
